I'm going to use the excuse that my first year of teaching was incredibly busy. I am trying to make more effort in sharing my ideas, hoping that it will help me reflect on my own practices.
So last year, I taught fourth grade in a self-inclusive classroom. This year, I have moved positions. I now teach sixth graders; three periods of Science and one period of ELA.
I recently implemented this strategy to help my students facilitate discussions within their own groups. I have them share their response, and the next person to speak says, "I heard you say..." and then makes their own thought. This pattern continues around the entire table. I think this strategy is helping my students to become better listeners and to respond in complete sentences.
